Weller pottery produced many items and used the same mold in other lines. Here we have a wonderful Burntwood Squirrel vase that is 11 1/2 inches tall. This mold was used in the Selma line and is #411. A vase similar to this appears in the Warman's Weller Pottery book as part of the Clinton Ivory line which makes sense due to the glaze color.Selma and Knifewood use color glazes one glossy and one matt, respectively. This piece has good color and nice relief.
The squirrels are running through oak trees trying to collect acorns. A hard to find piece and a perfect addition to any collection. Wonderful vase in that it has no chips, cracks, no scratches to glaze. Very minor underglaze crazing and long crazy lines near base.
Any imperfections are from the firing/manufacturing process. No evidence of repair or modification was detected. The white spots are studio light reflections. All images are original and un-edited.
